We asked the kids to tell us what they would like to receive as a gift (well, no surprises!!) and Joy of Sharing decided to fulfill each kid's wish on Diwali. As we know kids and their desires, so they wanted watches, ear-rings, shoes and of courses lots of crackers.
As a team effort, we involved the children to clean the surroundings and decorate the home with flowers. We then did meditation which is followed by a dance program. As the excitement of lighting the fireworks grew, later in the evening we brightened their faces with smiles by lighting up the crackers.
The next day sunday, we visited other orphanages (Amma foundation and Aadharana home) to distribute sweets and to extend our sincere and heartfelt wishes to the children.
The children cherished the moments and the festivities. We could see the hope in their eyes and joy on their faces. Thanks to JOSH team and friends for their support, donations and more importantly, to give their presence at the event and show the care for the kids as if a they are their own family member. Moments like these gives us strength and motivation to move forward and to serve more.
