"AMMA"
foundation had steep steps without light which leads to 3rd floor. Glazing at
the first look, our team was astonished and surprised by the unhygienic condition in which kids were living. Kids were tumbling around in
the room, because of insufficient lighting, thus making it very difficult for
them to even study. Temperature was very hot because of the asbestos sheets of
which the roof is made of. The main hall of the entrance was separated into 2
rooms by cement asbestos sheets (shown in the pictures). Room were filled
with mosquitoes, washroom condition was very unhygienic with half broken doors
(some gaps covered by plastic flexes). The 3/4th broken water tank adding to
the insufficient supply of water. Kids having no place to dry their clothes
outside were reluctant to dry them within their living rooms with some books in
random shelves.
Our
team was heartbroken by the condition and then decided to do something for the
kids to make a mark on their hearts that someone is there who cares. We decided to
renovate the place for kids so that they live in a good hygienic condition.
We started with painting
the walls (Sky Blue Color) that changed the whole environment in a quite good
way for the next 2days the activities we performed were,
·
Fixing the windows with Mosquito Nets.
Provided sheets to cover the washrooms also provided them with necessary cleaning material & Room Fresheners.
